The height of a tire, also called its diameter, is calculated by taking the width (325mm),
multiplying it by the issue ratio (50%), and then changing it to inches (for the reason that
width is in millimeters). This offers the height of one sidewall.
To get the whole diameter, you add the height of the sidewalls and the wheel diameter (22
inches). In this case, the full diameter (or peak) of a 325/50R22 tire is about 34.8 inches.
The width of a tire is truly the distance from one aspect of the tire to the other, measured in millimeters. So, the tire is 325mm huge.
The ultimate range in the tire size (22 in this example) refers back to the wheel diameter. So,
tire is designed to fit on a 22-inch wheel. However, the width of the wheel that the tire can
fit on can vary.
Generally, authorities permit the installation of a 325/50R22 tire on wheels that range from 9
to 11.5 inches wide for passenger tires and from 9 to 12 inches wide for light truck (LT) tires.
